ISPR: Ninth Bangladesh–US Land Forces Talks conclude in Dhaka

Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, it says

The ninth Bangladesh–United States Land Forces Talks (LFT) concluded at the Army Sports Control Board conference room in Dhaka Cantonment after a two-day meeting held from January 26–27.

The talks were held as a follow-up to the previous round of LFT conducted in the United States from September 8–10, 2025, according to the Inter Services Publish Relation Directorate (ISPR) on Wednesday.

Representatives from the armies of both countries participated in the discussions, which focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The Bangladesh delegation, comprising 22 members, was led by Lt Col Mohammad Badrul Haque of the Military Training Directorate of the Bangladesh Army. The four-member US delegation was led by Maj Michael Jacob Oster of the Security Cooperation Division, United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC).

Brig Gen Md Humayun Kabir, director of the Military Training Directorate, attended the opening and closing sessions.

During the talks, both sides held extensive discussions on military cooperation, capacity building, and strategic collaboration. Emphasis was placed on training exchanges, the use of advanced technology and military equipment, and strengthening mutual cooperation. The delegation also discussed joint training programs and exercises, as well as innovative training methodologies to enhance military capabilities.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening strategic cooperation between the two armies. They also agreed to take effective measures to contribute to regional security and enhance joint preparedness in responding to natural and man-made disasters. Emphasis was also placed on technological support and preparedness to address global challenges, which are expected to play a significant role in maintaining regional peace and security.

The Eighth Bangladesh–United States Land Forces Talks was held in October 2024.
