The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Traffic Division has issued special traffic guidelines as the Spirit of July concert is set to take place on Saturday at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Dhaka.
As part of these measures, from 2pm to 11 pm, vehicles can use the airport, Kuril, and Banani ramps of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway toll-free, according to a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali issued on Tuesday.
The notice states that for the smooth conduct of the event, alternative routes should be used to ensure uninterrupted vehicular movement in the Bangladesh Army Stadium area. Additionally, specific instructions for using the road in front of the stadium have been outlined.
Key instructions
From Staff Road Rail Gate to Navy Headquarters Crossing: Vehicles travelling from Tongi-Uttara towards Gulshan-Banani-Mohakhali may experience disruption and are advised to use alternative routes during the specified period.
Access from Uttara-Airport to Gulshan-Banani-Mohakhali: Vehicles can take a U-turn before the Radisson Hotel or use the U-loop under the Banani Overpass to access the expressway.
Gulshan-Banani-Mohakhali-bound vehicles: These can use the Dhaka Elevated Expressway ramps at airport and Kuril.
Airport, Uttara, and Tongi-bound vehicles: These can use the Banani ramp for their journeys.
Flyover loop closure: The loop of the flyover from ECB Chattar to Banani will remain closed.
Access from ECB Chattar to Banani: Vehicles can use the ramp in front of Kurmitola Hospital to travel towards Banani.
Restricted vehicles: Motorcycles, autorickshaws, battery-operated rickshaws, and bicycles are not permitted to use the ramps.
The notice further stated that the Dhaka Metropolitan Police seeks the full cooperation of the public to maintain traffic discipline and avoid congestion during the event.
