Police on Wednesday arrested Professor Dr AKM Jamal Uddin of Dhaka University’s Department of Sociology in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The arrest took place in front of a rally near the Gulistan Stadium area of the capital, according to officials.
Mostafa Kamal Khan, officer-in-charge of Paltan Model Police Station, said a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act has been filed against Professor Jamal Uddin, and he was arrested in connection with that case.
Earlier, on February 15, the Dhaka University teacher was assaulted when he went to the residence of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital.
