To ensure the overall security of the Bangladesh Supreme Court compound, the International Crimes Tribunal, the Office of the Attorney General, the Supreme Court Bar Association building, and adjacent areas, the court administration has prohibited the entry of outsiders into the National Eidgah ground.

The directive was issued on Monday through a notice signed by Dr Md Atikus Samad, deputy registrar (Administration and Justice) of the Supreme Court.

The notice stated that the Bangladesh Supreme Court is the highest institution in the country’s judiciary, where the chief justice of Bangladesh and the judges of both divisions of the Supreme Court conduct judicial proceedings. It also houses the records of several hundred thousand case files, including many high-profile and significant cases.

Recently, it has been observed that the movement of outsiders and unidentified individuals has increased in the National Eidgah ground—owned by the Supreme Court—and in the area near the fountain adjacent to the main gate used by the chief justice to enter the court. Such activities pose a potential threat to the security of the Bangladesh Supreme Court and the International Crimes Tribunal, according to the notice.

In this context, to ensure comprehensive security in the mentioned areas, the entry of outsiders into the National Eidgah ground has been strictly prohibited.

The court administration further stated that the notice has been issued with due approval from the competent authorities.
