A Dhaka court has rejected the bail petition of Gtv News Editor Rakibul Islam alias Mukul in a case filed for torturing his wife.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shamsul Arefin passed the order on Monday afternoon, in response to the bail petition filed by defence lawyer.
The court granted bail to Mukul's alleged girlfriend Mehrun Binte Shithi in the same case.
Shithi surrendered before the court and sought bail on July 2.
On June 27, Mukul was arrested for torturing his wife Naznin Akhter Tonni, a senior reporter at the Daily Janakantha.
