Indian army chief witnesses commissioning of officer cadets at Sandhurst

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande conducted a comprehensive review of the commissioning ceremony of 185 officer cadets who transitioned into Army Officers at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as the Sovereign's Representative.

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst was the host of the Sovereign's Parade, where 185 Officer Cadets underwent the transformation into commissioned Army Officers. The event, highly awaited, unfolded on August 11, enveloped in an atmosphere of pride and achievement.

On behalf of His Majesty the King, General Manoj Pande PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, and Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army graced the occasion. His inspection of the Senior Intake of the parade epitomized mutual respect and shared aspirations.

General Pande's engagement went beyond the parade inspection; he addressed the assembly, offering words of motivation and inspiration to the newly commissioned officers. A mark of prestige, he presented awards, including the coveted Sword of Honour, to the prize winners.

In his address, General Pande remarked, "Today, you step into the role of military leaders. This role demands exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. As you progress in service, multifaceted challenges will emerge. The nature of warfare is evolving, with disruptive technologies, advancements in cyberspace, and the information domain altering the dynamics of conflict, creating a more intricate and potent battle space."

He emphasized that recent and ongoing conflicts have highlighted vital lessons at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels. "These lessons will guide you as you prepare for future conflicts. Amid technological advancements, the significance of the individual in uniform remains paramount. The unwavering determination, courage, and resilience of soldiers on the battlefield will define ultimate victory. Hence, as junior military leaders, internalize these foundational imperatives," he stated.

General Pande underlined the significance of equipping and training the command with essential skills, discipline, and the right attitude. He highlighted the importance of decision-making under challenging combat conditions, emphasizing that orders and instructions should rest upon knowledge, situational awareness, and judgment. He stressed, "Your unimpeachable moral integrity and inner strength will earn the trust and respect of subordinates, peers, and superiors. Throughout your service, the pursuit of professional military learning must remain unwavering."

Pande further conveyed, "Contemporary developments, acquiring requisite technological competencies, and adaptability to change define a leader. As you ascend the steps of this historic institution, recognize that you follow in the footsteps of generations of distinguished British officers. Emulate their virtues, standards, and values."
