At least 13 people were killed and others were injured in a powerful explosion near a military base in Rawalpindi, Pakistan on Monday, local media said.
Most of the injured being taken to hospitals were said to be in critical condition, Dawn reported. The injured included civil staffs and school-going children.
Six army personnel and seven civilians were dead in the attack, Dawn reported citing the superintendent of police of Potohar.
Pakistaini militant organisation Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility of the attack, a spokesperson told the Dawn.
The explosion, carried out at RA Bazaar, a highly sensitive area near General Headquarters of the Pakistani military, is suspected to be a suicide attack.
The blast was carried out a day after 20 people were killed and about 30 were injured in an attack on security forces in Cantt area of Bannu district.
Militant organisation Tehrik-i—Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility of that attack and said such assaults on security forces will continue further.
