At least seven people were killed and 25 others were injured when a 26-storeyed building caught fire in Mumbai, India Friday evening.
The fire claimed lives of seven people before it was tamed after three hours of efforts, local daily The Hindu reported.
The residential complex, Mont Blanc, is said to be an elite high-rise in the southern Mumbai. The fire broke out at the 12th floor of the building and was not allowed to spread.
Local deputy fire officer PS Rahangdale said that the building was equipped with necessary fire-safety gears. “This greatly helped preventing the fire from spreading to other floors.”
The injured were taken to local hospitals. However, the cause of the fire was under investigation.
