A 5.3-magnitude earthquake hit Sikkim’s capital Gangtok in India on Thursday afternoon.
The tremor struck 16km northwest of the Signtamat a depth of 9.7km around 12pm.
Raul Lama, a local photographer of the area, confirmed the news with Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “So far no casualties were injured in the incident.”
The news was also reported on the website of US Geological Survey.
On September 18, 2011, the area was jolted by a 6.9-magnitude earthquake that killed around 111 people; its tremours were also felt in other countries including Nepal and Bangladesh.
