23 Bangladeshis arrested in Agartala for illegal entry

Indian Railway Police arrested 23 Bangladeshis at a railway station in Agartala, the capital city of the northeast Indian state of Tripura.

The arrests were made on Saturday evening during a raid conducted by a joint team from the Indian Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Government Railway Police (GRP).

The detainees were preparing to board a train to Chennai and were found without valid travel documents.

Tapas Das, the officer-in-charge of the Agartala GRP police station, confirmed the arrests and informed the media that the operation was based on specific intelligence inputs.

The arrestees, all hailing from Chapainawabganj, were reportedly in India seeking employment opportunities.

They were attempting to travel to other Indian states via Guwahati in Assam when they were apprehended.

The arrested individuals were identified as Ram Saha (24), Md Asmaul Hoque (20), Jakir Hossain (40), Md Sahin Ali (26), Ibrahim Khalil (23), Sahin Alam (28), Nayan Ali (19), Md Ilahi Hossain (21), Md Taib Hossain (19), Md Dalim alias Iman (19), Md Abdul Ajij, Md Saiful Islam (25), Sahabuddin Shek (33), Md Shahidul Islam (20), Md Suman (26), Md Amirul Islam (24), Hajikul Babu (26), Ramjan Shek (19), Md Mijanur (24), Ali Akbar (36), Sakil Shek (19), and Md Rehan SK (19).

Following their arrest, the individuals were presented before a local court, where they were remanded to three-day police custody.
