Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has won the Mandi Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 74,755 votes, the Election Commission of India confirmed on June 4.
Ranaut, contesting the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency in Himachal Pradesh for the first time, defeated Congress' heavyweight Vikramadita Singh.
She received 537,022 votes in the Lok Sabha polls, against Vikramaditya who got 462,267 votes.
After winning the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Mandi constituency, Kangana Ranaut said, as quoted by news agency ANI: “I am emotional at the moment. I am grateful that the people of Mandi elected the BJP and good governance of PM Modi..."
NDA ahead but BJP still short of halfway markPolling across 542 parliamentary constituencies was held across seven phases between April 19 and June 1. The Lok Sabha has 543 seats and a party or coalition needs 272 seats to form the government.
