Modi: India is a welfare state

Modi declared that India is ascending to unprecedented levels of progress, ensuring that the nation is on path to become the world's third-largest economy

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during ET Global Business Summit on Friday said that under his aegis the government elevated 250 million people out of poverty in the last 10 years.

Speaking at the business conclave, organized by Times Group in Indian capital New Delhi, Modi criticized his political rival and the ruling party of previous term for offering suggestions from comfortable, air-conditioned rooms have prospered into millionaires, while the impoverished populace has continued to languish in poverty.

In presence of Prime Minister of Guyana Brigadier Mark Anthony Phillips, Modi at the conclave said, "When it comes to disruption, development and diversification, everybody can agree that this is India’s time."

Calling the vibrant nation a “raging bull,” Indian Prime Minister said India is a welfare state. The government’s priority is to make the lives of the common citizens easier and improve the quality of life,” the Prime Minister remarked in the business conclave attended by Dhaka Tribune's Special Correspondent.

“We invested not only in the present but also in the future of the country,” he asserted. Addressing the business elites, Modi who is seeking a straight third term, underscored saving national resources including money by bringing transparency to the system and adopting advanced technology.

The moment of his arrival after a long silence in the room was euphoric. He impressed the audience with his witty sense of humor and brought a comparison between the World Economic Forum and this business event. Modi declared that India is ascending to unprecedented levels of progress, ensuring that the nation is on path to become the world's third-largest economy.

In the presence of luminaries, Modi underscored his signature inclusive political drive "Sab Ka Bikash."

Prime Minister of Guyana Brigadier Mark Anthony Phillips appreciated India's timely delivery of vaccine drives across the globe. He shared Guyana's unmatching success in the Caribbean region in the fronts of food and nutrition.

Piyush Goyal, Indian Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Foods and Public Distribution, in the conclave remarks, “The government has embarked on a commendable journey to fulfill the dreams of India's vast population of 1.4 billion. Highlighting the pivotal role of artificial intelligence in transforming the employment and industrial landscape, Ravi Kumar S, Chief Executive Officer of Cognizant said its implications for the future workforce. Speaking on Artificial Intelligence, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Indian Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship remarked, " AI will help to do more with less." He elaborated disruption, emerging jobs and new talents in this regard.

Home Minister Amit Shah addressed on the second and concluding day, where Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer at OpenAI asserted AI is a global issue and the challenges should be addressed globally.
