7 Bangladeshis arrested for trespassing in India

  • They were charged with entering India illegally without the required visa
  • Indian court ordered them to be held in judicial custody for 14 days

Seven Bangladeshi individuals were arrested by Indian police for trespassing in West Bengal. 

The arrest took place in Bilaspur, Karandighi police station of North Dinajpur district on Monday. 

They were charged with entering India illegally without the required visa.

The arrested are Dabirul Islam, 32, Rezaul Karim, 36, Nuruzzaman Miah, 32, Mohammad Raihan Kabir, 22, Mohammad Monir Hossain, 19, Mohammad Ashraful, 36, and Mohammad Mehedi Hasan, 29. 

The detained youths claimed to be residents of Thakurgaon, Satkhira, Kurigram, and Comilla districts.

The arrest took place as officers from Karandighi police station were patrolling along National Highway Number 12. 

They noticed a group of young men acting suspiciously on the side of Bilaspur road, leading to their subsequent arrest and transport to the police station.

Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the detained youths hailed from Bangladesh and had entered India illicitly with the assistance of brokers, seeking employment opportunities. 

Failing to produce valid documents for their stay in India, the police took them into custody.

Subsequently, the arrested individuals were presented before the Islampur sub-divisional court from Karandighi police station. 

The judge ordered them to be held in judicial custody for 14 days.
