Indian start-up encourages employees to take 30-minute nap at work

Wakefit Solutions will permit all employees to take a 30-minute afternoon nap every day

Update : 01 Sep 2022, 01:17 AM

An inventive solution has been devised by an Indian start-up named Wakefit Solutions for employees who struggle with the rush to take a quick nap during the work shift by permitting all of its workers to take a 30-minute afternoon nap every day.

All staff members will be granted the "Right To Nap" from 2pm to 2:30pm, according to the company’s official announcement on Twitter, reports NDTV.

Additionally, it stated that this period will be designated as "official nap time" on all employees' schedules.

A screenshot of an internal email written by Wakefit co-founder Chaitanya Ramalingegowda was also included in the tweet.

He stated: "A Nasa study reveals that a 26-minute catnap can enhance performance by 33%, while a Harvard study shows how naps prevent burnout."

In order to develop the ideal nap environment for the staff, they are also striving to create warm nap pods and silent spaces in the office, the company claimed.

Many people were surprised when Wakefit started encouraging its employees to take afternoon naps, but it would be interesting to see whether other organizations adopt the same policy given that many start-ups are putting more of an emphasis on improving work stability for their staff.
