The Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) has released a 13-step outline of how workers will move to Malaysia under the new agreement.
According to the outline, the first step is to register the recruiting agency in the BMET database through the “Ami Probashi” app.
In the second step, the approved employment permit of Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment will be uploaded in the database.
In the third step, the Bangladeshi recruiting agency will request the list of job candidates from BMET online. In the fourth step, BMET will send the list of job candidates in the ratio of 1:3 from the database.
In the fifth step, the recruiting agency will select the job seekers from the list sent by BMET within seven days. In the sixth step, if necessary, the recruiting agency can request re-listing from BMET.
In the seventh step, the recruiting agency will arrange calling visa and pre-departure training for the job seekers. In the eighth step, the Bangladeshi recruiting agency will stamp the visa.
In the ninth step, the migrant workers will have to give their biometric fingerprint to the District Employment and Manpower Office (Demo).
In the 10th step, Bangladeshi recruiting agency will apply for BMET clearance through “Ami Probashi” app along with government fees and charges.
In the next step, BMET will give the clearance online. The 13th step is to download the clearance certificate or smart card from online.
Workers will be able to travel to Malaysia on the last step.
Earlier, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employrnent Minister Imran Ahmad confirmed about the government expenses for the workers who want to go to Malaysia is Tk78,990. This cost is only in Bangladesh’s end.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Malaysia on December 19, after going to Malaysia, all expenses including immigration fee, visa fee, health check, insurance, corona test, quarantine related expenses of the Bangladeshi worker will be borne by the Malaysian employer or organization.
The employer will also ensure quality accommodation, insurance, medical treatment to the worker.
These costs will include recruitment agency recruitment, bringing to Malaysia, accommodation, employment and repatriation of the worker.
Besides, the employer can appoint a Malaysian recruiting agent at his or her own expense.
However, some expenses of workers in Bangladesh have to be borne by themselves.
