Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader slams chief justice over Imran Khan's release order

Maryam Nawaz says Pakistan's Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial should resign and join Khan's PTI party

Update : 12 May 2023, 10:15 AM

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz has come down heavily on the chief justice of Pakistan, following the release order of former prime minister Imran Khan by the Supreme Court.

Nawaz was infuriated by the decision to release Khan, whom she referred to as a "thief" who had "stolen Rs 60 billion of the national treasury."

Taking to Twitter, she accused Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial of being happy to meet Imran Khan and of taking pleasure in his release.

The PML-N vice president went on to criticize the chief justice's handling of sensitive issues in the country and accused him of becoming a shield for sedition.

She also said Bandial should join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and resign from his post as chief justice of the Supreme Court.
