India on Friday registered a record spike of 1,31,968 new Covid-19 cases in a single day.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, the death toll increased to 1,67,642 with 780 more losses in a day, reports PTI.
Along with a steady increase for the 30th day in a row, the number of active cases increased to 9,79,608, which is 7.5% of the total infections, the data added.
The data also showed the drop of recovery rate in the country to 91.22%.
The active caseload within the nation was recorded at its lowest in February.
A total of 1,19,13,292 people recovered from the virus, the data stated.
In 2020, India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 2 million mark on August 7, 3 million on August 23, 4 million on September 5 and 5 million on September 16.
It went past 6 million on September 28 last year, 7 million on October 11, 8 million on October 29, 9 million on November 20 and the 10 million mark on December 19.
More than 70% of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities, said the Union Health Ministry.
