Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished the Bangladeshi people on the occasion of Independence Day.
He also saluted the courage of Bangladeshis and the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during the Liberation War in 1971.

"India is a constant friend of Bangladesh. I pray for Bangladesh’s development. We will work together to maintain peace in this region,” the Indian premier said during his radio programme "Mann Ki Baat."
He also praised the national anthem of Bangladesh.
