Weeks ahead of the Legislative Assembly elections of Mizoram scheduled to be held on November 28, Mizo National Front (MNF) President Zoramthanga, on Friday, said that he would break the "Congress tradition" of halting projects of their predecessors if his party assumes power.

Mizo National Front (MNF) is the main opposition party of the Northeast Indian state of Mizoram. It has five seats in the Legislative Assembly.

Zoramthanga, chief minister of Mizoram from 1998 to 2008, was speaking at Aizawl South I constituency block conference.

“They [Congress] do not care about the pros and cons of a project. They just stop it,” the former Mizoram chief minister alleged.

He stated that forming a new MNF government wasn’t a question anymore. Instead, the priority for his party men was the modus operandi of enforcing their new economic policy.

“It is evident that we will form a new government. And thereafter, the MNF will start implementing our new Special Economic Development Package,” Zoramthanga added.
