Bangabandhu’s birthday observed at Guwahati

Update : 17 Mar 2018, 09:02 PM

For the first time ever, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birthday has been observed at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Guwahati.

The occasion began by singing national anthem “Amar Shonar Bangla.” It was followed by reading out the speeches of the president, prime minister and the foreign minister of Bangladesh.

To mark the occasion as National Children’s Day, the Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner in Guwahati Kazi Muntasir Murshed took special initiatives.

Speaking to this scribe over the phone, Kazi Muntasir Murshed said, “We’ve invited 130 children in Assam who are passionate towards drawing but cannot fulfill it owing to lack of means. We’ve distributed colour-pencils and drawing-copies among them to meet their requirements. We’ve also provided them with food. This has warmed the cockles of their heart.”

“Their happiness has given me pleasure as well and this would remain etched as the best moment to me in the course of my diplomatic service,” added Murshed.

“Apart from this, we’ve invited Bangladeshi students in Assam and Meghalaya for participation in the Father of our Nation’s birth ceremony. We’ve essayed to impart knowledge about Bangabandhu’s life and works to our posterity and imbue patriotic feeling within them through an interaction,” Murshed further added.
