Police said the baby, who father works as a labourer, was alone at home in West Delhi’s Subhash Nagar Sunday afternoon. The baby’s mother, who works as a domestic help, had returned from work to find her child covered in blood, crying. Her sister-in-law, who was supposed to baby-sit, said the child's cousin was playing with her for a while. A medical examination has confirmed rape, the police said. A case has been filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences or POCSO and other sections of Indian Penal code. What to do? How can Delhi sleep today when 8 month baby has been brutally raped in Capital? Have we become so insensitive or we have simply accepted this as our fate? Where is the sena which attacked a school bus to 'protect honour'? No one to ask questions from the system now?

An eight-month-old baby was raped allegedly by a 28-year-old cousin in Delhi.
Hospital authorities say her condition is critical but stable, reports NDTV.
Soon after the incident on Sunday, the accused went missing, but was later apprehended on Monday, the police said.
The accused, reportedly the first cousin of the child and living in the same building, has confessed to the crime, Press Trust of India reported, quoting sources.
Delhi Women’s Commission chief Swatil Maliwal, who visited the child at the hospital later tweeted referring to the case.
