Obaidul: Pakistan plotting with Rohingya 'terror groups'

Update : 21 Dec 2017, 12:50 PM
Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, and Awami General Secretary Obaidul Quader has accused Pakistan of conspiring with Rohingya "terror groups" and said India and Bangladesh should join forces in fighting the menace of terrorism, the common enemy of both states. Obaidul made the allegations while talking to reporters in Kolkata on Wednesday, where he said Pakistan could not bear to stomach “anything which is good for our country,” indicating that Inter Service Intelligence agency (ISI) , Pakistan’s premier spy agency, were conspiring with Rohingya groups, reports News X. Following the conflict which started late August, 655,000 Rohingya refugees have fled Rakhine and sought refuge in Bangladesh. Obaidul added the government has a zero tolerance policy towards any atrocities on them and asked the minorities to resist any attack. On the issues of right of minorities in Bangladesh, the minister said: “I tell my minority brothers that they are in no way inferior than [sic] our Muslim brothers. They should not suffer from an inferiority complex. I tell them that they are citizens of Bangladesh and have been part of the Liberation War,” reports NDTV. India and Bangladesh have both been subject of terror attacks in recent times. The minister said the two countries should work together to combat terrorism. He also praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his contribution in boosting Indo-Bangla bilateral relations while referring to Teesta water-sharing issues. Obaidul said Bangladesh wants a solution that is “logical, practical and acceptable to both countries.”
