US State Department: Kerry’s Dhaka visit for boosting ties

The US Secretary of State John Kerry, who is set to visit Dhaka on August 29, will highlight the "longstanding and broad US-Bangladesh relationship". During his stay in Dhaka, he will meet with government officials to discuss growing cooperation on global issues, according to a US State Department press release issued Wednesday in Washington. “He also will focus on strengthening our longstanding bilateral partnership on democracy, development, security and human rights,” his office said in a statement. Kerry will call on President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, according to diplomatic sources said earlier. He will also hold a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali where all the bilateral issues would be discussed prominently. Kerry will leave Dhaka for New Delhi, India on August 29 evening for meetings with senior Indian officials.
