“We think we’re going to make an arrest on this,” New York Police Department (NYPD) Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce told WCBS 880. The NYPD is also offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment of the suspects. Quoting police, CBS New York also said that the suspects, carrying empty boxes, had rung every apartment in the building until Islam buzzed them in. Then they knocked on the first door claiming to be UPS deliverymen. Islam said he had noticed nothing out of the ordinary until he opened his apartment’s door after the man identified himself as a UPS worker. The man then barged in, put a gun to Islam’s head and threatened to shoot him at point-blank range, says the report. However, the attacker then hit Islam in the head with the gun and shot him in the leg, said police. As his wife ran to the neighbours for help, the attackers fled the scene and left Islam bleeding on the hallway. Islam also told CBS2 that the assailant had not ask him anything else before opening fire and, surprisingly, stole nothing from his home.
