On Tuesday morning in northern California, a domestic incident spiralled into a full-blown shooting rampage, killing at least 5 people, including the shooter, in Tehama County.
According to the LA Times, around 8am Tuesday, the gunman - who has been identified as Kevin by his neighbour - began firing indiscriminately with a rifle and several handguns. The shooter hijacked his neighbour's truck before riding off while continuously shooting. People were shot over a wide area. There were as many as seven spots where the shootings took place, according to NBC News.
The shooter was gunned down by the sheriff's deputies. Over 100 law enforcement agents now swarm the area.
At least seven people have been hospitalized. Two schoolchildren have been shot and injured. By 10am, the school was evacuated without any further casualties. The children were airlifted to safety.
The locality of Rancho Tehama, where the shooting took place, is a rural area 120 miles south of Sacramento in California.
