In a bizarre turn of events, a Chilean resigned and disappeared upon being paid 330 times his salary by mistake -- thanks to the mix-up by a human resource executive, who was assigned to transfer the salaries of the employees for the month of May.
He was an employee of Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos (Cial), one of the largest producers of meat in Chile, the Indian media outlet The Economic Times reported on Wednesday.
The company accidentally paid him 165,398,851 Chilean pesos instead of his usual salary of 500,000 pesos in May.
The employee first contacted the HR department of the company and informed it about the mistake.
The company management found the error after rechecking its records.
Later, he promised that he would return the money, but he soon backtracked on that promise, tendered his resignation on June 2 and disappeared with the money.
The company later took legal action against the employee to retrieve the money.
