Moscow has opened the submission window for the 11th International Press Photo Contest for Young Photographers, honoring the memory of Andrei Stenin, a distinguished photojournalist from the Rossiya Segodnya media group who tragically lost his life in 2014 near Donetsk.

The contest traditionally begins on Stenin's birthday, December 22, and is now welcoming entries.

Curator Oksana Oleinik expressed her excitement about the contest, saying: “We are delighted to announce the commencement of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest for the eleventh consecutive year. As in previous editions, we anticipate a substantial influx of fascinating entries from young photojournalists."

Despite global challenges, the contest continues to attract professional photographers from various countries and continents.

Participants and winners explore themes of compassion and humanity, showcasing their work through road-show exhibitions in multiple countries.

Photo professionals aged 18 to 33 can submit their entries via the contest's website, available in Russian at stenincontest.ru and in English at stenincontest.com, until February 28.

Prizes include RUB125,000 (over $1,200) for first place, RUB100,000 ($965) for second, and RUB75,000 ($723) for third in each category.

The Grand Prix winner will receive RUB 700,000 (over $6,750).

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Moscow in September−October 2025, followed by international exhibition tours.

Since its inception, the exhibitions have been displayed in countries such as China, South Africa, Mexico, and many more.

Organized by the Rossiya Segodnya media group under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for Unesco, the contest supports emerging photographers and highlights the challenges facing contemporary photojournalism.

General media partners include VGTRK, SMOTRIM online platform, and Moscow 24 television channel in Russia, with international partners like Sputnik news agency, RT television channel, and others.
