The 28 crew members of Bangladeshi vessel “Banglar Samriddhi” reached Romania from Ukraine on Sunday morning.
They would soon return home from the European country, media reports quoted Bangladesh Ambassador to Romania Daud Ali as saying.
Lodging arrangements had been made for them in the Romanian capital of Bucharest for the time being, added the ambassador.
Operated by the state-owned Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC), “Banglar Samriddhi”, which was stranded at Olvia port in Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion, was hit by a shell on February 2, killing Third Engineer Hadisur Rahman.
UNBHis body was being preserved in Ukraine, Ambassador Ali told a Dhaka-based news outlet.
Dhaka on Thursday declared the ship abandoned.
Around 24 hours after the missile attack, the 28 remaining crew members were taken to a bunker on a tugboat away from the port with help from Bangladeshi expatriates in Ukraine.
They got on a bus after spending about 39 hours in the bunker and eventually crossed the border into Romania through Moldova.
