The Gibraltar government Tweeted Tuesday afternoon a video showing a Spanish ship encroaching on British territory.
They said: "Illegal incursion into #British #Gibraltar Territorial Waters by Spanish Navy patrol ship Infanta Cristina this afternoon."
The British navy's HMS Scimitar approached the boat which then exited the territorial waters. It occurred amid rising tension between the UK and Spain over who had control of The Rock. After an EU document hinted Spain could veto any post-Brexit deal for Gibraltar, former Conservative leader Lord Howard said Theresa May would be within her right to defend the peninsula.Illegal incursion into #British #Gibraltar Territorial Waters by Spanish Navy patrol ship Infanta Cristina this afternoon. #BGTW pic.twitter.com/IkYadi8XNn
