The fifth iteration of the Bangabandhu book fair was held in London on Sunday. The day-long event took place at Brady Arts and Community Centre and was inaugurated by Minister of Cultural Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor, who was present as the chief guest. Journalist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury presided over the event while Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan, educationist Syed Manzoorul Islam, and High Commissioner for Bangladesh in the UK Nazmul Quaunine were present as special guests. The European College of Law organized the event with associate organizers Centre for Bangladesh Studies and Bangabandhu Centre. The event was planned in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Bangladesh. The organizers said that the book fair will contribute to educating Bangladeshis who grew up in the UK and will encourage them to know the history of their motherland. The fair was stocked with around 1,500 books on the topic of Bangladesh and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The book fair featured a poetry recitation and cultural event as well as an art competition for children.
