Natogyi People’s Defense Force (PDF) and its allies said on Tuesday that they killed nearly 50 junta troops and detained 14 others in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region.

The anti-junta resistance group PDF launched an attack on about 200 regime troops under the direction of military strategist Zeyar Aung early on Sunday, The Irrawaddy reported.

According to the resistance organization, the attack occurred as the regime army was moving toward villages after being forced to retreat to the Wetlu village police station in the township's north following a junta airstrike.

According to the PDF, wounded comrades were taken with the fleeing troops.

According to Natogyi PDF, the attack claimed the lives of about 27 regime troops and resulted in the detention of 14 others, including Major Win Hlaing Oo and Captain Aung Ko Ko.

The PDF reported that 15 additional soldiers were wounded and 20 more dead in the Wetlu police station on Tuesday, citing two soldiers who had defected to the resistance.

The conflict claimed the lives of three resistance fighters and injured seven more.

“Some of those killed were from my neighboring village. Others were seriously injured,” a Natogyi resident told The Irrawaddy.
