A joint operation by the Malaysian Immigration Department targeting an illegal food court business in the Puchong area resulted in the arrest of 58 foreign nationals, including individuals from Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, and Myanmar.

According to the Director General of Immigration, Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, the raid was carried out on Wednesday after a week of monitoring and public accusations claiming the food court was hiring foreign workers who had overstayed their temporary work licenses and were using expired documentation.

"All the foreign nationals arrested, aged between 18 and 40, have been placed at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot for investigation and further action," he stated in a statement.

58 foreigners were arrested out of the 102 individuals who were inspected.

In addition to two men and one woman from Indonesia, 31 men and 10 women from Myanmar were also arrested.

According to Zakaria, the New Straits Times reported that nine guys from Bangladesh, four males from India, and one Vietnamese man were also implicated in the arrest.

The department would not allow any foreign nationals to engage in unlawful commerce, overstay their visit, or misuse their passes, Zakaria added.

“All the foreign nationals, were arreted for suspected offences under Sections 6 (1)(c) and 15 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Regulation 39 (b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963, reported by Bernama

Zakaria also warned harsh measures against any parties that hire illegal immigrants.
