Myanmar's military regime has reportedly breached the ceasefire agreement reached in Kunming on Thursday, launching a series of airstrikes in northern Shan State, according to the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).

Despite diplomatic efforts to establish a truce, the junta has allegedly violated the agreement with 19 artillery strikes in several townships, including Mogoke Township in Mandalay Region, The Irrawaddy reported.

The TNLA claims that junta forces shelled Par Poat village in Kyaukme town and Nyaung Kone village in Phyu Young village, Mogoke Township.

Additionally, the junta base in Hsipaw town reportedly shelled Mann Hae village. In Lashio city, regime forces allegedly targeted Kone Paung, Ma Kee Nu, and Ae Nine villages in Lashio Township.

Clashes erupted in Kyaukme Township on Saturday, with junta troops reportedly attacking a TNLA base.

The armed group claims that the junta has violated the ceasefire multiple times since Thursday. Civilians in the affected areas are reportedly suffering from the consequences of the ongoing conflict.

The Ta’ang Women’s Organization has reported that, since the launch of Operation 1027 on October 27, 123 civilians have been killed and 239 others injured due to airstrikes, shelling, and landmines in 16 northern Shan State townships.

The junta has lost control of numerous towns in northern Shan State and other regions.

In another incident in Sagaing Region, near the Indian border, a junta fighter jet bombed Kanan village in Tamu Township.

The airstrike hit the village church and a school, resulting in the deaths of 17 people, including nine children.

The church, two school buildings, and several houses were destroyed. The civilian casualties have sparked condemnation from various quarters, with accusations that the junta is deliberately targeting non-combatants.

While the junta denies responsibility for the attack, the National Unity Government (NUG) alleges that the regime is deliberately targeting civilians as it faces significant setbacks on multiple fronts across the country.

The NUG plans to collect evidence of war crimes committed by the junta and submit documents to international courts.

The Irrawaddy reports an escalation of indiscriminate airstrikes, shelling, and raids on villages and civilian targets across Myanmar, prompting the NUG to seek global sanctions on aviation fuel for the junta.

The situation remains dire, with civilians, including children, bearing the brunt of the violence.
