BSF Commandant Satish Kumar, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in a cattle smuggling racket operating at the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal, has been granted conditional bail.
Satish Kumar was released on personal bail of Rs5 lakh by Asansol Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Monday despite efforts by CBI lawyers to keep him in custody for a few more days, reports Zeenews.
However, he was released under the condition that he must appear in court whenever the CBI asks him.

Earlier in September, the CBI filed a case against the former commandant of 36 Battalion, Border Security Force (BSF), three private persons and unknown public servants for their alleged involved in illegal cattle trade along the West Bengal-Bangladesh border.
Satish Kumar was arrested on November 17, following which he faced heavy interrogations.
Cattle are traded illegally on the Indian North-West Frontier at Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Thakurgaon, Chapainawabganj and Rajshahi. Despite the strictness of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), a class of smugglers, reportedly with the help of some officers and members of the BSF, have been trading cattle illegally.
