Artificial intelligence has been making strides in the past few years, and last weekend San Francisco saw OpenAI's chabot ChatGPT take the priest's place to officiate Army recruit Deyton Truitt Reece Wiench's wedding.

"Thank you all for joining us today to celebrate the extraordinary love and unity of Reece Wiench and Deyton Truitt," the chatbot proceeded after initially being hesitant to conduct the ceremony.

Reported to be saying a strict “no” at first, and elaborating “I can't do this, I don't have eyes, I don't have a body,” ChatGPT needed to be pushed by the couple, who even provided personal information to the AI. These facts were included beautifully in the chatbot's officiation.

Wench and Truitt said they had planned this momentous event in five days as Truitt was soon to be called to arms, and Wiench would follow suit after his basic training.

Hence the priest's unanticipated absence needed an immediate alternative, to and the bride's father thought of utilizing AI.

With US-based Colorado having no requirement for a licensed marriage official to officiate ceremonies, this was a perfect solution.
