A Bangladeshi expatriate and his nine associates, mostly from India, Pakistan and Nepal, in the United Arab Emirates have pocketed a whopping 20 million dirhams by winning a lottery.
Fortune smiled on them through the Abu Dhabi Big Ticket draw on Saturday, reports the Khaleej Times.
However, the details of the Bangladeshi could not be confirmed immediately.
But the newspaper just identified one person: Dubai-based Indian driver Renjith Somarajan, under whose name the ticket (349886) was bought.
“We're a total of 10 people. Others are from different countries, like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Nepal. They work in the valet parking of a hotel. We took the ticket under the ‘buy two and get one free’ offer,” he said.
Recalling that each of them pooled 100 dirhams for the ticket was taken in his name on June 29, Somarajan said: “What I can tell others is to continue trying your luck. I was always sure that my lucky day would come. I was always sure the almighty would bless me one day.”
Somarajan told the newspaper that he will be sharing the total amount of the money with the nine others whom he gathered only recently.
