A politician in Namibia named after Adolf Hitler, who has won a local election, says he has no plans for world domination.
He bagged 1,196 votes in the election, which was held last month and became a councilor in the Ompundja Constituency.
According to the Electoral Commission of Namibia, Adolf Hitler Uunona ran as a candidate for the South West Africa People’s Organization, commonly known as the SWAPO party.
On the official candidates list, the name Hitler was reduced to an initial, with the document reading: Adolf H Uunona, although the results page listed Uunona’s full name, reported Kiro 7.
According to The Hill, Uunona denied having any ideological common ground with the Nazi dictator, telling the German newspaper Bild: “That I have this name doesn’t mean that I want to subjugate Oshana {region in Namibia] now — it doesn’t mean that I’m striving for world domination!”

Uunona told the Bild that his father had named him after the historical figure, but he doubted he had been aware of his ideologies.
"It wasn't until I was growing up that I realized: This man wanted to subjugate the whole world," he said, adding. "I have nothing to do with any of these things," reports BBC.
After World War One, Namibia came under South African control and gained independence in 1990. But it still has many German-named towns and a small German-speaking community.
The centre-left Swapo party arose from Namibia's independence movement and has ruled the country since 1990.
