Saudi Arabia and Middle Eastern countries along with many other states around the world will celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday.
Al Arabiya reported that the crescent moon for the Islamic month Shawwal was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening.
Khaleej Times also reported that the United Arab Emirates also announced Friday as the first day of the Eid.
Gulf News said Oman already declared it would celebrate the largest festival of the Muslims on the same day.
The sighting of the Shawwal moon marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Bangladesh’s National Moon-Sighting Committee is set meet on Friday to decide whether the country will celebrate Eid on Saturday or Sunday.
However, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha generally fall in Bangladesh a day after the celebrations in the Middle East.
Hundreds of villages in several districts of the country, keeping with their tradition, will celebrate the Eid on Friday along with Saudi Arabia.
Followers of different Islamic clerics or Pirs in these villages always observe the religious festivals such as Ramadan, Eid, Shab-e-Barat, Shab-e-Meraj and Shab-e-Qadr in keeping with the dates of such practices in the Middle Eastern countries.
