Among 1,500 selected individuals from 150 countries, 10 entrepreneurs from Bangladesh are set to attend the three-day 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) starting from Tuesday. A press release from the US Embassy in Dhaka on Sunday said the American delegation would be led by US President Donald Trump’s daughter and Adviser Ivanka at the summit, co-hosted by India and the US in Hyderabad. This year’s summit will highlight the theme “Women First, Prosperity for All” and focus on supporting women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth globally. GES participants will represent four key industry sectors: Energy and Infrastructure, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Financial Technology and Digital Economy, and Media and Entertainment. One third of the attending entrepreneurs will be from the US, one third from India, and one third from other countries around the world, said the press release. Among the impressive and diverse group of participants, nearly 300 are also investors and ecosystem supporters who will catalyse investment and networking at the summit. Women will represent 52.5% of entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem supporters, making this the first GES where women will occupy majority of participants. As women from 127 countries participate, delegations from more than 10 countries, including Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Israel, will be solely represented by females, according to the press release. The youngest entrepreneur at the 2017 GES is 13 and the oldest is 84, while 31.5% of entrepreneurs are 30 years old or younger, it added.
