Narcos location scout shot dead in Mexico

A location scout for the Netflix crime drama Narcos has been shot dead while working for the show in Mexico. The bullet-riddled body of Carlos Muñoz, 37, who worked for the Mexico City-based production company Redrum, was found in his car on Monday in a rural area of Temascalapa town. Temascalapa is one of the country's most violent towns, reports BBC. According to Netflix the facts surrounding his death were "still unknown". Even due to the lack of witnesses Mexican officials were reportedly having difficulties investigating the case given. A friend of Muñoz told the Spanish newspaper El Pais that the victim was travelling in the region, taking photographs for locations for the show. Even though Muñoz died on Monday, the news of his death has only emerged now. In his 10-year career, Muñoz also he worked as a location scout for the films: Mozart In the Jungle, Spectre, Fast & Furious and The Legend of Zorro. Muñoz was working as a freelancer for the fourth season of Narcos which focused on the notorious Juárez drug cartel in Mexico. Narcos is a hit series about the rise and fall of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Netflix said in a statement: "We are aware of the passing of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a well-respected location scout, and send our condolences to his family."
