India chastises OIC for raising Kashmir issue at UN

India slammed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Saturday for bringing up the Jammu-Kashmir issue at the UN, adding that the group has no right to comment on India’s internal matters. The nation countered Pakistan’s statement on behalf of the OIC, and said that Jammu and Kashmir is an “integral and inseparable” part of India. It also counselled the OIC to abstain from making such statements in the future. “India notes with utmost regret that the OIC statement contains factually incorrect and misleading references to the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and inseparable part of India,” First Secretary at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva Sumit Seth said. Seth exercised India’s Right of Reply in making this statement in response to Pakistan’s comments on behalf of the OIC. He added: "India outrightly rejects all such references. The OIC has no locus standi on India’s internal affairs. We strongly advise the OIC to refrain from making such references in future." The OIC is an international organisation of 57 member nations who aim to represent the collective voice of the Muslim world.
