WIM Shamima Akter Liza, the last year’s runner-up, and WFM Nazrana Khan Eva are jointly leading the Sultana Kamal 34th National Women Chess Championship with 8 points each at the end of the penultimate round. Three players - reigning women’s champion Sharmin Sultana Shairin, WIM Rani Hamid and WFM Zakia Sultana - shared the 2nd position with 7 points each yesterday.
WFM Tanima Parveen was positioned third with 6.5 points. In the 10th round Liza beat Dilara Jahan Nupur, Eva beat Jahanara Haque Runu, Shirin got a walk-over against Kiswara Shajrin Evana, Rani Hamid got a walk-over against Hamida Mahmud while Zakia also got a walk-over against Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly. The final round will be held today.
