Ironman Shamsuzzaman Arafat has been selected for the second edition of Snowman Race, scheduled to be held in Bhutan next month.
“Honored to get selected for Snowman Race 2024! Excited to line up with the greatest mountain runners from the world!” reacted Arafat in his social media page Monday.
This year, the line-up for Snowman Race will see 18 “exceptional” athletes including 11 international and seven Bhutanese runners.

According to Snowman Race website, “Covering more than 203 kilometers (126 miles) through the wild and challenging terrains with mountain passes as high as 5,470 meters (17,946 feet), the Snowman Race is an ultra-marathon, challenging the world’s fittest and most elite runners to help raise awareness of the impacts of climate change.”
The 2024 race will start from Laya, Gasa on October 24, coinciding with the second day of the Royal Highland Festival, and will conclude with a finish ceremony at Chamkhar Sports Arena in Bumthang on October 28.
