Bangladeshi archer Mohammad Sagor Islam won silver medal in the 2024 Final World Qualification Tournament in Antalya, Turkey to qualify directly for the Paris Olympics 2024.
Sagor edged past Czech Republican archer Li Adam by 6-5 sets to reach the semi-finals of the competition which confirmed his place in the upcoming Olympics.
In the semi-finals, Sagor outplayed Cuban archer Franco Hugo 7-1 to set up final as well as gold-medal clash with Uzbekistan’s Amirkhon Sadikov.
Although Sagor lost the final 6-0, with a silver and direct qualification to Paris Olympics the archer’s goal had already been fulfilled.
After Ruman Shana, Sagor became the second archer from Bangladesh to qualify for the Olympic Games.
Ruman did it during the last Olympics edition.
