Ace Bangladesh archer Ruman Shana has decided to retire from the international arena due to personal reason.
The 28-year old Olympic athlete informed Bangladesh Archery Federation regarding the matter, confirmed a top BAF official.
"Ruman told us that he doesn’t want to play anymore. The standing committee of the federation will decide what to do next,” Kazi Razib Uddin Ahmed Chapol, the general secretary of the federation, told Dhaka Tribune Sunday.
Since his return from suspension due to disciplinary issues, Ruman was out of form and could not make it to the final squad of Asia Cup Stage 1 held in Baghdad, Iraq last month where Bangladesh secured two silver and as many bronze medals.
Ruman admitted to the reporters that he took the decision out of huff and said he could easily play for 10 more years but finds no hope to carry on.
It was learnt that the federation wants to dig deep why Ruman does not want to continue and convince the country’s most successful archer to alter his decision.
