Tribute was paid to Kazi Anisur Rahman during a commemoration program at the Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium Sunday.

Former colleagues, veteran organizers, writers, and journalists gathered to honor Anisur, the first secretary of the National Sports Council, who played a vital role in reforming Bangladesh sports after independence.

The event also announced the upcoming release of a book of remembrance dedicated to Anisur.

Anisur passed away last month at the age of 92, leaving behind a significant legacy.

"He (Anisur) was a man of great stature that cannot be adequately described in a short time," said former athlete and former Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan director Faruqul Islam.

During the event, Ashfaqur Rahman, the only son of Anisur, said: "We have decided to publish a book of remembrance and have started looking for contributions."

Speakers at the commemoration included Rustam Ali, former NSC director and colleague of Anisur, and Pratap Shankar Hazra, former national hockey and football player and vice-captain of the Swadhin Bangla Football Team.

Veteran sports journalists, writers, and columnists Quamruzzaman, Iqramuzzaman, and Dulal Mahmud also shared their thoughts on the occasion, which concluded with a song by Rabindranath Thakur.

The event was organized by Yusuf Ali, President of Shishu Kishor Sangha and Member of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation, who had been a companion of Anisur for decades.
