Bangladesh men's kabaddi team suffered their second defeat in the 19th Asian Games losing to Chinese Taipei by 31-18 points in the third Group A match held at Xiaoshan Guali Sports Center Court 1 Wednesday.

With the defeat, Bangladesh's hope of reaching the semi-final almost got shattered while Chinese Taipei secured the last-four spot with a third straight victory.

Chinese Taipei dominated the match from the beginning, taking a 10-8 point lead in the first half.

The winners were more aggressive in the second half, securing one creditable "lona" in the match.

Bangladesh will face Thailand in their last group game, scheduled to be held Thursday at the same venue.

In March this year, Bangladesh won the Bangabandhu Gold Cup by beating Chinese Taipei by 42-28 points.

Bangladesh men's team last won a medal in kabaddi at the 2006 Doha Asian Games.

Earlier, Bangladesh made a winning start, beating Japan by 52-17 points in their opening match before suffering a 55-18 points defeat to India in their second game.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh women's kabaddi side failed to reach the semi-final after losing to Islamic Republic of Iran by 54-16 points in their second and final Group B encounter at Xiaoshan Guali Sports Center Court 2.

Earlier, Bangladesh women's side lost to Nepal by 37-24 points in their opening Group B match.
