The 12th edition of the Kyokushin Karate National Competition was held in Bangladesh on the occasion of commemorating the 100th birthday of the renowned Grand Master Masutatsu Oyama.
The competition was held at Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex in Dhanmondi last Friday.
Under the initiative of Bangladesh Kyokushin Karate Academy and under the supervision of Bangladesh Kyokushin Karate Association, this competition has been held regularly in Bangladesh since 2003.
Bangladesh Awami League Joint Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim was present as the chief guest at the ceremony of distribution of crests among the winners.
Bangladesh Awami Volunteer League General Secretary AKM Afzalur Rahman Babu and Chandpur District Awami League Vice President Dr JR Wadud Tipu were present as special guests.
In the speech of the chief guest, Nasim said to the contestants: "If you stick to it, success is bound to come in any work.”
He also heaped praise for organizing such an extreme sports competition in the age of screens.
A total of 49 contestants from 15 districts and two upazilas of the country participated in this competition in five categories of children, boys, girls, women (open) and men (open) aged seven to 40 years.
In children's category, Riyaduzzaman Anher secured first position while Musa Abdullah and Aayan Reza Aolad finished second and third respectively.
In boys’ category, Zayin Maruf Khan bagged first place with Eesa Abdullah and Wahiduzzaman Sadman emerging second and third accordingly.
In girls’ category, Innaya Imam Hajjaj notched first position while Meher Afrin Enni and Ayman Dara Nayantara came second and third respectively.
In women’s (open) category, Shrabosti Das sealed first place with Bonolata Rahman and Ashfi Mehjabeen finishing second and third accordingly.
In men’s (open) category, Mathew Ricky clinched first position while Zahiduzzaman Shihab and Shahriar Rahman emerged second and third respectively.
