Gyusuddin Mithu of Golden Chess Club emerged the champions of the Metropolis Chess Tournament. Mithu earned 7.5 points at the end of the 9th and last round at the chess federation hall room yesterday.
Five players earned 7 points to finish joint second. Final standings: 1st – GyusuddinMithu 2nd- Khondaker Nazre Mowla of Debdas Biswas Daba, 3rd-Farhadur Imam of Sultana Kamal Pathagar, 4th-Anisuzzaman Mallick, 5th-Sabya SachiMandal and 6th-Obaidul Islam Shahin.
Eight players earned 6.5 points each. Their positions are: 7th-Mohammed Salim, 8th-Mohammad Hafizul Islam Chapal, 9th-Anisuzzaman Jewel, 10th-Nayan Kumar Mohanto. The top 16 players qualified to play in the 39th National B Chess Championship for Dhaka city
