Bangladesh kicked off their Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi Tournament with a facile 50-22 points victory over Poland at the national volleyball stadium in Dhaka Monday.
Bangladesh had to overcome their initial lapses with total teamwork as the defending champions trailed 14-11 at the end of the first half.
Skipper Tuhin Tarafder, who was later adjudged the man of the match, led the way of recovery with fine performance and soon Bangladesh raiders and the defence were firing from all cylinders.
Bangladesh added 36 points in the second half and finished the match in flying colors.
Earlier, the vibrant and colorful opening ceremony of the 12-team meet was filled with applauses from the crowd during cultural shows of dance, music and performances.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Muhammad Hasan Mahmud inaugurated the eight-day event as the chief guest.
